Beginnings

It was so exciting to partner with Southport Oak Island Interfaith Fellowship (SOIIF) to accomplish this dream of creating a Day4Hope event right here in Brunswick County. And there we were, two dozen of us from a bunch of different churches and organizations! As we gathered for our first big meeting, I couldn’t get over the idea that I wasn’t dreaming any more. This is the real deal!

But in this case, the real deal takes work. It takes people. It takes a whole lot more than two dozen. The exciting thing is, that’s the whole idea of Day4Hope — that a whole bunch of people in the community come together to confidently meet the needs of people around us who are without hope, many without a home. Kids who may enjoy school, but dread the end of Summer 2024, because this year they just aren’t in a good place. They don’t see how they can possibly face the first day of school when each and every day they’re in a family that is just trying to survive.

So as our committee meets, we all know that when we break, we need to get out there and find people. We need to find you, connect with you, and show you where you can take your place in this life-size effort.
