In addition to a snack and a book (and what kid doesn’t like those two things together?), the Day4Hope event provides the following optional services:
- School physical/health exam
- Dental evaluation & optional fluoride treatment
- Back to school haircut
- Back to school outfit
- Individual and/or family photo
- Backpack with grade-specific school supplies
- Care bag with personal hygiene items
- Prayer group
- Resource personnel
At the event, our goal is to instill a greater sense of confidence for that first day of school, as well as a feeling of ongoing support. Not just to give out of our time and treasure, but to say, “we’ve got your back.”
A dental exam may lead to assistance with scheduling an appointment for treatment. A prayer request could lead to engagement at a local church or support group. We invite photographers to record the moment and offer children a memory they can keep forever.
